01

What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences (such as being signed in) across pages and sessions.

TutorByPin uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage) to run the Platform, keep it secure, remember your preferences and, in a limited way, understand how it is used.

02

Essential Cookies

Essential cookies are required for the Platform to function. Without them, features such as sign-in, checkout for credit packs, or the newsletter double-opt-in cannot work. These cookies do not require your explicit consent under most jurisdictions.

  • Load balancing and CSRF protection.
  • Preserving the cart and checkout state during a credit-pack purchase.
  • Displaying the cookie banner and remembering your consent choice.
03

Authentication Cookies

When you sign in, TutorByPin uses a combination of a short-lived JWT access token (stored in memory) and an HttpOnly, Secure refresh-token cookie to keep you signed in across browser tabs and sessions.

  • The refresh-token cookie is marked HttpOnly so JavaScript cannot read it.
  • It is marked Secure so it is only sent over HTTPS.
  • It uses SameSite=None to support cross-subdomain scenarios where required.
04

Preference Cookies

Preference cookies remember low-risk choices that make the Platform easier to use:

  • Your last-selected city / PIN code on the search bar.
  • The visibility state of onboarding tips.
  • Preferred language and layout density (when supported).
05

Analytics Cookies

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns — which pages are popular, where users get stuck, which searches return the most results. Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them through the cookie banner (or the equivalent consent control in your region).

We do not use these cookies to build individual advertising profiles, and we do not share raw analytics data with advertisers.

06

Third-party Cookies

A limited number of third-party cookies may be set on your device by services that the Platform integrates with:

  • Google Identity Services — set only when you use "Sign in with Google".
  • Payment aggregators — set during checkout by the aggregator's hosted flow (PhonePe, Razorpay, Cashfree, etc.).
  • Embedded content — e.g. YouTube previews, if you play them.

These third parties are independent controllers of the cookies they set and are governed by their own privacy policies.

07

Browser Controls

You can control cookies at any time through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view, delete and block cookies on a per-site basis. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Platform from working (for example, staying signed in).

Policy Updates

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as we add or remove cookies from the Platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email.
